InfoBorder goes live in Fiji

The Fiji Department of Immigration went live with their new Integrated Border Management Software (IBMS) – InfoBorder developed by Informatics International Limited (IIL) at 5 a.m Fiji time on Monday, April 8.

The InfoBorder software which is one of Informatics’s flagship products will be providing a comprehensive border control solution which will incorporate all immigration aspects.

The Informatics team which is currently on an official visit to Fiji conducted a series of workshops and training programmes for officials of the Fiji Immigration Department on the functions of the InfoBorder software.

The Fiji Immigration director Nemani Vuniwaqa told the Fiji Sun newspaper that Informatics was awarded the tender for the Integrated Border Management System which will enhance how they collate data at the borders.

“The officers are the very people who will be applying hands-on technical work in the new system; for this training we are focusing on those who are dealing with passengers on all exit and entry points which are Nadi and Nausori International airports, the wharfs, Levuka and Savusavu airports,” Mr Vuniwaqa told the Fiji Sun.

“The InfoBorder, border control module is a fully integrated system with passport readers, where you can screen colour photos of passengers for security verification and all these checks happen in a few seconds. The checks are done by the system itself and it will empower the border control agency,” the Informatics International’s Assistant General Manager Vignarajah Manoharan said.

The Department of Immigration of Fiji last year signed the contract for an Integrated Border Management System (IBMS) with Informatics. The contract was signed by the Fiji Ministry of Defence, National Security and Immigration Permanent Secretary Jale Fotofili and Informatics Holdings Limited Group Managing Director Hiran Wickramasinghe.

Currently Mauritius and Sri Lankan border control agencies are powered by the InfoBorder software.

InfoBorder has stood by its assurance to maintain the highest standards of Border Controlling, by winning the best e-Government award in the Asia Pacific Region in the FutureGov Summit and Best e-Government solution in The National Best Quality ICT Awards (NBQSA) in 2012 for InfoETA- Electronic Travel Authorization. InfoBorder also bagged two significant awards in the e-Swabihmani awards 2012.
